1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work, improve performance, and provide analytics. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and pixels; in this notice we refer to all of them as "cookies".

2. Categories we use

• Strictly necessary: required to deliver the site (security, session management, load balancing, consent state). These cannot be turned off.
• Analytics: privacy-respecting measurement of aggregated traffic patterns to improve content. Loaded only with your consent where required.
• Functional: remember preferences such as language or last-viewed section so the site behaves consistently across visits.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. Third parties

A limited number of trusted providers may set cookies on our behalf (for example, our analytics vendor, video embeds, and payment processors used during checkout for Council membership). These providers are bound by contract to handle data on our instructions.

4. Managing your choices

Where required, we present a consent banner on first visit. You can change your choices at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their settings; doing so may affect parts of the site.

5. Retention

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies typically expire between 30 days and 13 months from the date they are set or refreshed.

We will update this notice when our cookie use changes and revise the "Last updated" date above.
